We all need good stress
These are all the ingredients we require to grab our attention and increase our productivity.
Last week I had some good stress! I took part along with my daughter on a grass auto test at the beautiful situated www.gawsworthhall.com
We have never done anything like this before. Not even driven on grass…it felt like the car was sinking.
We didn’t have a classic or historical car. We competed in our mini one and all the organisers, marshals and other competitors were very supportive and helpful.
We started off without the car! We were walked around both challenges. The message was “don’t knock the cones over, keep to the routes and go as fast as you possible can to win!”
I went first with my daughter as my navigator. We set off with sweaty palms, not a great time, but no penalties. We did it! We got around both tests successful albeit very slowly compared to some of the other lunatics almost going round on two wheels! Then it was my daughter’s turn, just turned 18 years old passed her driving test in January 2019 and never been behind a wheel of car since.
I was the navigator. She was shaking and my heart was pounding would we end up in the hedge?
We stalled a couple of times and I was pressing the imaginary brake pedal. As all back seat drivers do, shouting turn the wheel, left … right, brake, typical interfering parent.
We had 4 goes each of both test. By the end of it, my daughter was zooming around like Colin McRae. I was screaming with delight and we both slashed our times on our last runs to almost half.
A fantastic evening followed by a barbecue and prize giving – no prizes for last place!
We thoroughly enjoyed it. We were grinning from ear to ear. The whole experience was a real dopamine boost. Dopamine is critical chemical. It’s for our central nervous system to make us more motivated and happy.
